Most comic-book properties indulge in The Big Fight, but the best - like Arrow and The Flash - explore the hero's struggle with himself.
The best superhero comics have always been about the person rather than the action. Do you remember when Superman first landed on Bizarro World? (http://www.againwiththecomics.com/2009/08/kevin-oneill-draws-tales-of-bizarro.html) That was silly and full of oddly engaging adventures, but what makes it memorable is seeing how Superman learned to interact constructively in a world designed to do just the opposite.
