What does the trend of shopping holy days reveal about us as a culture?

I enjoyed your article! I don't think there are many Christmas shoppers who are exempt from these actions and feelings! Why does a "______ Day" have to be made out of just normal stuff? That fact should tell us something!

Thank you!

You have tapped into the meaning of lust. Lust emboldens its own forms of worship. We are never far from Eden, and the urgent thirst to exchange mortality for a higher form of pleasure. The desire to be sophisticated and cosmopolitan builds a shrine to worship the next miracle purveyed by our enlightened mind. 1John 2:16, lust leads us to keep a form of Christ, while we sample the vanity fairs of this world. To think Christ-like is to go to desert places, and drink from Christ's cleansing fountain of life.
