John J. Thompson lists his ten favorite albums of 2016.
Definitely gonna check out some of these on the list (currently listening to Charles Bradley, who is so dead on for James Brown its scary)
On your #1 - the Blackstar album by Bowie is very much a study on mortality and end of life. From a Christian perspective, It really shows the mind of an unbeliever/seeker on display. I will say the videos that go along with Blackstar are absolutely haunting and raw. The music video for Lazarus, in all honesty, deeply disturbed me for days. I feel the combination of images, musical accompaniment and lyrics have made a burning mark on me...I'm still trying to figure out whether it was for good or bad.
