Watch Bob Dylan share some common grace onstage

Josh Larsen

Bob Dylan has been touring this summer with Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and Monday night the three came together onstage to sing the folk-spiritual “Twelve Gates to the City,” which references Revelation 21:21.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering James’ latest solo album is rife with oblique Christian references and Tweedy has produced the last two recordings by gospel legend Mavis Staples. Still, let’s not go calling this a religious revival of some kind. I’m happy enough to simply enjoy the music and marvel at what - at the very least - is another example of God’s astounding common grace.
